The Original Priscilla Daygown

I am adding pictures of the original Priscilla Daygown.  This is the  daygown that inspired me to design my pattern "Priscilla's Layette".  It is the daygown that we are using in my first Blog Lesson about "How to Make a Daygown.  My friend Ann sent me these pictures of the gown her Grandmother, Maude, made for Baby Priscilla.  Read the complete history.

The original Priscilla Layette Daygown  was made entirely by hand.

There was embroidery at the hem.  All done in Satin Stitch.

Front yoke of Priscilla Daygown.
The gown was trimmed with entredeux and tatting.
Click for close up and you can see the stitching of the Buttonhole as well as the Featherstitching along the front/sleeve seamline.  You can see Maude's individual "hand" stitches at the Rolled and Whipped neck.
Isn't it beautiful?
