I love Antique Lace.
I just love lace, really. But some of the prettiest laces are old.
Here is some of my lace wrapped around a toilet paper holder.
So, what I want to know is...
How do you organize Antique Lace!! ??
Really, I am asking all of you to give me good ideas about this. Send me pictures if you can. I will share them.
This is how I don't do a good job organizing my Antique Lace.
I need help!
It's beautiful lace and deserves a nice storage space.

I don't have much as far as antique lace, but my Grandmother always folded it in hanks and use ribbon to hold it together. She would measure it and place a little card she cut out of a recipe card and tie it on the lace. Then she placed them in a clear plastic shoe box. Hope this helps. Chris
ReplyDeleteI don't have any old lace, but I store all my new lace by wrapping around cardstock and labeling with the width and yardage, then store upright in a plastic drawer so I can see the labels. I have white on one row and ivory on the other. Someday I'll write a post about it. It took two days of intense work to do it, but it was worth the effort. If I were really ambitious, I would use acid free cardstock and store in a small acid free photo box.
ReplyDeleteI have used tissue holders, tied the lace with ribbon and am now using the lazy method of just dropping it in small zip lock bags and labeling the front.
ReplyDeleteI'm ashamed to say that mine is stored in plastic shoebox bins. I would love to reorganize it and find a better place to keep it. I have quite a bit of antique lace. I use it lots, so it needs to be easily accessible.
