A Lovely Old Baby Set

While at my Friends house (my Sew Sew's Hostess) I had a peek in this box.

I was thrilled at what I saw!

The front yoke of the Gown.
This was a silk baby gown owned by one of her family members.

Silk doesn't hold up very well over time, unfortunately.

Close up of the hand-stitching on the yoke.
Tiny Hemstitching, little Tucks, Featherstitching and Embroidery.

The hem is finished with hand scallops with lace stitched behind the scallops.
Each scallop had a touch of embroidery.

This is the matching slip.  It was in better condition.

And beautiful as well!

I love the way the slip was so pretty.  With accents that matched the gown it was made to go under.

The slip is pretty enough to be a dress.

The hem of the slip had lace edging gathered to the lace insertion.  And embroidery bordered the hem as well.

There was a matching Bonnet and Booties.
I will show you those next time.
