Reproduction of a Vintage Dress by Lorraine

This is the Baby Gown my Friend, Lorraine, made to copy the old family gown.
She used my Baby Layette pattern.

I think this dress is beautiful!
Close up of the sweet yoke.

You can see that the little Pintucks are stitched by hand.

And she worked Hemstitching and Bullion flowers with Eyelet centers, just like the original gown.
All by hand.

She changed the hem a bit and left out the scallops that were stitched around the old gown.
I like the machine Pinstitching that attaches the lace to the fabric.

She stitched tucks on the back of the gown, just like the family gown had.

It's beautiful.

I am joining Faded Charm for White Wednesday...come along.

  7. I just found your website today, you have absolutely stunning pieces of work on here. I am reminded of my childhood. I am curious to know how put the lace and eyelet edging together. Is the eyelet with the lace or is it put on seperatly?

  8. Azra, There are eyelets embroidered in the flowers. But you might be talking about the machine Pinstitching that is used to attach the lace insertion at the hem. It is beautiful, isn't it?

  9. I replied on Pinterest buy I think these are the Orlando christening gowns. The original is over 61 years old. It needed some repair and my sister in law had a replica made. My mother has painted two of my children's portraits in the original gown. It is stunning in person.
