Playing With Lace - Saga National Convention

Class project is a little Church Doll or Pew Baby - named because of the quiet nature of this little dolly.
Playing With Lace Class by Jeannie Baumeister

I am teaching this class in October at the SAGA National Convention.  It is a great class for anyone who is interested in learning Heirloom sewing with lace.  And perfect for those who need a brush up
course or those who are not totally satisfied with their current results.

We will learn to make the perfect lace miter and shape our lace into a loop, determining the order in which to cut the fabric from behind the lace before stitching it in place.   I will also show you how to ensure even gathers and a way to better control them as you stitch your lace to the lace insertion (or entredeux or fabric for that matter).

Then, we will practice three ways to stitch the lace to the fabric: Whipping the lace, Blanket Stitch and Pin Stitch.

No sewing machine is required.  This is a three hour hands on class that is the necessary first step to sewing lace, even if you are going to finish stitching the lace by machine.

Student Supply List: 18x2 see thru ruler, washout fabric marker or pencil, Fabric, Embroidery scissors, Blunt end scissors are handy,  Lace Board (can be small 12x 12 or so), White DMC #50 and Madeira #80 thread. Magnification and Lighting is recommended.  Finger Shield suggested.

This is my White Wednesday Post!  Join Faded Charm.
