Sip n' Sew - Another Sequel

The sleeve on Emma's Smocked Baby Dresses also had a fancy lace band at the center, with a strip of lace insertion on either side.

Embroidery was stitched between the lace bands.

And a pretty fancy entredeux was stitched at the sleeve edge using the Old Fashioned Method.

We cut a block of fabric out for the sleeve and embellished it before we cut out the sleeve.

Although we did trace the sleeve pattern onto the fabric to determine lace placement, we used the pattern when we cut out the sleeve.  It is much more accurate to use the pattern.

Emma's Smocked Baby Dresses was designed using and old dress as inspiration.  The fabric is not as full as many of the modern smocking  patterns but it has plenty of fabric for smocking (and is totally pleater compatible).  And I like the back with the tucks.

I love  the old fashioned look of it.
