Details of an Heirloom Baby Dress

Baby Londyn is wearing her Grandmother Susan's Baby Dress.

A sweet hand embroidered collar is edged with a tiny lace and attached to the dress with a bias facing.

The hand embroidery is Satin Stitch.

The back has tucks on either side of the baby placket.

A tiny Running Stitch was used  to put in the hem.

This dress is handmade, including the Buttonholes.  The two buttons on the back don't match, which means a button was lost at some point and replaced with a different one.

I can relate to that.  I had to replace a button on one of Londyns dresses.  I made the dress but no longer have the exact button.  I stitched a similar button onto the dress thinking "no one will notice".
(am I the only one who does this?)
The  person who replaced this button might have thought the same thing.

Oops, I noticed!!
