Paris - The Bon Marche - Sewing Department

Most of this fabric is Liberty of London.
30E per Metre (a metre is about 39") so a little more than a yard.

Interesting tailors notions.

Boxes of Thimbles!
I am an avid Thimble user.

Spools and spools of French Ribbons.

Threads.

And beautiful scissors.

Very cute Thread Winders.

Buttons everywhere.

These drawers had buttons in them.

I loved this button box
I looked at it.  Too expensive.  Put it back.
Came back to it and took a picture.  Then walked away.

Then, you know I had to buy it anyway.
I have no idea what it says but if any of you speak French, I would love to know.

And lastly, we gathered a picnic together and had it for dinner.

View from our hotel room.
At night the Eiffel tower lights up and every hour it sparkles.

It was wonderful!

  2. Beautiful!
I've been to Paris several times so far but I'm loving your trip so much. Love to see familiar places through your eyes.
The Sajou button box is lovely, of course (that's a very traditional French brand).

  4. Looks fabulous. I just 'stumbled' upon your blog and it looks great. Will call back to have a good read. I was at school with the lady behind Merchant and Mills I have looked at the website lots of times and then realised that it was someone who lived in my village - small world.

  5. The Button box loosely translates to: Parisian made superior buttons. Large choice of styles: bone, mother-of-pearl, shell, horn, ? (could not find in dictionary), fancy. . . House Sajou Paris

Looks like a wonderful trip! Looking at your photos reminds me of my first trip to Paris as a senior in high school with a very special aunt of mine. That was 11 years ago now, and I would love to return to Paris someday.
