Sister Visit - New Orleans!

I am thinking about which of my patterns would look really cute made out of these beautiful linens!
My sister and I spent a day in New Orleans.  We walked around the French Quarter and looked in a couple of shops.

This shop is chock full of linens and also children's clothing that is made from their linens.
This shop is called Rendevous, inc. in Jackson Square.  It was fantastic.  Everything was lovely!

And I had to pop in the doll shop.

Street Car.
We saw the sights of the city.

I love the architecture.
 It is interesting and unusual.

The doors have beautiful iron work.  You can't tell from the photo, but if you look through the iron work, you will see a lovely courtyard down a narrow alley, away from the street.

Mail slot on a door in the French Quarter.
Ordinary, everyday things are intricate and pretty!

This is a great place to stay.
One of the nice hotels.

I'm on the right!
We made friends everywhere we went!!

And we had French Coffee and Beignets.

My sister and me at the Cafe' Du Monde

But the real reason we went to New Orleans was to see the WWII Museum.  Our Father fought in World War Two in the Army Air Corp.  Then went on to have a career in the Air Force.

We had tickets for a show and lunch at the Stage Door Canteen.
The Victory Belles performed and I loved it.  They sang songs from the war era.  They were great!

We looked at the bricks that have been purchased by families to remember those who fought in the war.  They pave the area around the museum. We would like to do that for our father.

My sister on the left and me on the right!  Playing with Dolls!  Can't remember where we lived - El Paso or Kansas I think!

It sounds as though you had a lovely visit. Someday I'll get to New Orleans. Thanks for the WWII museum website and phone number, I'll definitely look that up for my father-in-law.

Great pics of some of my favorite places in NO. Yesterday I did a tour of the secret gardens of the French Quarter that you would have loved - 5 private homes and Gallier House. I also like your pictures from the past -- probably because I have some that are very similar - short bangs from the 50's and long blonde hair from the 70's! Where did you live in KS? That is where I grew up.

I think it was Topeka. I was pretty small.
I would absolutely love a tour of secret gardens. Can you send me the information?!!
