My Beautiful Blue Dress!!

My "Emma's Smocked Baby Dresses" - Very nice without Smocking!!

I  Love, Love, Love this little blue dress!!  It exceeded my expectations!!  I love it when I make the right choice in Designing the first time!   But how could it not be stunning with all the wonderful Bear Threads materials I used.  Visit Bear Threads to see the article I did in their January Newsletter.   You will also find information about Swiss Voile!  I really like this little dress with out the smocking at the yoke as much as I like it when it is smocked!

Lovely in White!!

The feature of this little dress is the Lacy Yoke!

The lace is Maline and the fabric is Swiss Voile.  We tend to forget about Voile when making Heirloom clothing but I am here to tell you that it has a wonderful hand, so drapey and nice.  And it doesn't wrinkle like the Swiss Batiste does which makes it a fabulous choice for children.

The pretty hem has been machine pin stitched onto the fabric.  

I machine stitched all the laces together using a Pfaff Creative 2144 machine.  But I whipped the gathered lace edging on by hand.  You have so much more control over stitching the gathers evenly.

I used matching Lacy band for the sleeve.  Pretty, don't you think?

Making pretty sleeves is easy.  Just position the lace band over the middle of the sleeve and attach it!  I did not gather the lower area of the sleeve as much where the band was.  It is prettier if you can see a little more of the band.

The back of the dress is one of the cutest things about Emma's Smocked Baby Dresses!

Just a little touch of embroidery.  The Feather Stitch of course!  And a pretty Bullion Rose bud.  I love pink and blue together.

Lace and Swiss Insertion from Bear Threads. 

The lace is now attached and Pinstitched (by Pfaff Creative 2144 Sewing Machine).  Entredeux attached and Lace edging hand whipped to entredeux.

Still work to do! 

On to finish the sleeves!

Completed Lacy Band for "Emma's Smocked Baby Dresses".

I stayed up late on Friday night  to finish the Lacy Band for my Bear Threads article.  I don't usually stay up late to sew because the lights not as good (and neither are my eyes), but I needed to do it so I could play for part of Saturday.
