Baby in a Romper

Baby Londyn looks so cute in her  Redwork Romper.

It's the perfect outfit for a busy  crawler.

The Romper has a cute and simple back with a placket.

But she is growing out of it.

Good thing my pattern Best Embroidered Baby Clothes Package Two has three sizes to choose from so I can make her another one in a larger size.

The embroidery design is not included in the pattern.  But it is available in The kit in my Web Shop.

There are cute designs that are included in the pattern.

You can reproduce this neck finish on any garment.

All you need to do is finish the neck with a Bias Binding, stitch gathered lace edging under the Bias.  Then work a nice and even Running Stitch, using floss,  right where the lace meets the Bias.

The pocket is in the pattern.  I love, love, love this little pocket.  The embroidery design is in the Kit. And barely gathered lace edging is stitched around the  pocket.

It surely is the biggest thrill

Carole's Baby Clothes at Sew Sew's

This Romper is displayed on the back side of Belinda's Blue and White Quilt.
This one piece Romper is from my OFB pattern Best Embroidered Baby Clothes 2.

I love this pattern.
So cute, comfortable and old fashioned!

Carole used a fine linen fabric and tiny blue tatting (found on ebay!).  If you enlarge the photo you can see where she has marked the front for embroidery.  She is planning on embroidering the baby's initial.

ps.  this is the cute hanger she gave me.

White Wednesday - Redwork Romper

This is my little Redwork Romper from the OFB pattern Best Embroidered Baby Clothes Two.
It is one of my favorite things that  I have ever made!

I love this Romper pattern too! It is so cute on a baby (not so cute on a hanger) and sooo comfortable.  Like a  1930's baby.  I just kept adding length to the pattern as  my son grew and he wore it until he was Two.  He's 18 now.  That's how old this pattern is.

You do not know HOW I struggled to come up with a Baby Garment that had either Red or Bright Blue to go in this special Red, White and Blue issue!

I am the Queen of subtle!   The Princess of Pastel!
I do soft Baby things.

My column that will run for the year 2011 in Sew Beautiful magazine.
Once I came to terms with the fact that Sew Beautiful was not going to change their theme for this issue because I wanted to do Pastel.....I got to work.

And this was the finished product.

I just love it...even if I did make it myself.

I really want to do a little dress from Best Embroidered Baby Clothes One using the same Redwork design, pockets, everything the same.  But a Dress!
I used a Bias Binding for the neck.  And added slightly gathered lace edging around it. And added color by stitching through the lace heading with red floss and the Running Stitch.

The pocket has flat lace edging around it (I eased it around the curve at the bottom).   And added more Running Stitch in red.  And a cute little pocket embroidery design.

But don't think any of this was easy!!

I tried several different techniques before this was finished.

I stitched the French Knots around half of the neck before I decided that it was cute but not right for this project.  So I un-stitched all the French Knots.
Here you see that I was stitching French Knots on the Bias Binding.  I knew I wanted color at the neck but wasn't sure how it needed to be.  And I thought I wanted lace, but not sure just where it would look good.

I do a lot of trial and error in my Designing.

The center embroidery Design for the Bird is combined from two different designs from my Book and the pattern.  I made up the design on the pocket, so it is only available in my kit  but the pockets are in the Romper Pattern.

There is a kit for this Romper in my Web Store.
But, the fabric has been discontinued so I am using a Fine Pima Cotton Pinwale Pique instead.  I didn't know the fabric was not being sold anymore.  Not until I tried to re-order it.  Sorry!

Pima Cotton Pinwale Pique.  Very nice.

This is my White Wednesday for today!!

Pink Saturday - Madeleine's Going Home Outfit

A pretty sleeve finish on the baby gown.
Lezette was kind enough to send me pictures of the Going Home outfit she made.

It's so pretty.

Gown was made by Lezette
She embroidered the yoke and added lace to the neck edge.

The lower edge of the Nightgown is finished with Ribbon in a casing so baby's little feet can stay nice and warm.

Sweet Baby clothes were lovingly made by Lezette.
She even made a matching Baby Blanket.

Thank you Lezette for letting me share these photos!

Lezette used my Old Fashioned Baby Pattern Best Embroidered Baby Clothes 2

This is my Pink Post for today.
