Love is Like an Old Fashioned Rose!

Jeannie's Rosebuds!  Lots of them too.

My Love is like a  red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June.
O, my Love is like the melodie,
That's sweetly played in tune.
-Burns-

A beautiful Rose from my Old Fashioned Rose bush.  Yes, it began blooming  March 1!!
Old Blush is the name of this climbing Rose bush.  The roses are popping out every few minutes.  The scent is sweet and I think I hear them singing  "spring, spring, spring!
My one lone little Daffodil!  Surprise! The Daffodil is my best  favorite flower!
Did you know?

We own 3.77 Sewing Machines! and Winner of Giveaway # 2.

All the treasures pictured in front of the  Choosing Bucket!

The Lucky Girl for the OFB Giveaway #2 is "Lindsay" !
So, dear Lindsay, please email me (jbaumeister@cox.net) your name and address so I can get your treasures off to you!

I thank you all for visiting me at my  Old Fashioned Baby Sewing Room.  I so enjoy your  comments!!  We are indeed Kindred Spirits.

Just for fun, I have compiled a (probably inaccurate) list of the information that I received from all of you who commented on this giveaway post. I asked how many  Sewing Machines you all had.   Very interesting !!  I did my best to count the machines you listed but sometimes it was hard to be sure.  This is not science!

The average sewist owns 3.77 sewing machines.

One person listed 11 machines and one person listed 10!!

Surprisingly (to me anyway) there were 6 ladies who own only one machine.  I have a vision of you six ladies as  being neat, tidy, practical and completing each project before starting another!   The winner was among you!

Suzanne said  .."my favorite machine is my hands.  They're always with me and don't require electricity." I like her words because I love hand work too. But I do alot of machine construction.

ElizabethRose said she owns a 1876 New Home Treadle machine and plans to make a baby dress on it just to say she did it.   Well, I said the very same thing several years ago to my husband when I bought a nice treadle  machine  "Honey, I need it so I can sew my designs on an old machine just like they used to do". ( He does not know that they  actually used to sew baby clothes by hand).  My ambition is still to sew a baby gown with my treadle machine but I haven't done it yet.  Hmmmm maybe there are more of us and we can unite and encourage each other!  We can call ourselves the "Treadlers".

I love this!!  More than one of you names their Sewing Machines which I think is so  quaint.  I love naming things!  I would name my machines too,  but at this point in my life I would not be able to remember their names so I'll  just call them all "Honey"!

The Second Old Fashioned Baby Giveaway!

Jeannie's little treasures for OFB Giveaway 2!
Well, I didn't think I would have the pleasure of doing another Giveaway so soon but a promise is.... and I promised another one at 75 Followers.  I am so pleased that I have 80 Followers.  It certainly makes me feel useful!  So, I have collected some more of my treasures for you.  I will draw a random name from the comments from this post only and  I will draw (hopefully your  name) on February 1.
Same picture with the Vintage look.
Giveaway 2 includes the book (novella) "Emma's Journal" by Ed Rowell.  It is one I read over and over because it is so encouraging.  And the story is so compelling in it's own right that I couldn't put it down!  Here is an excerpt from page 1 , Emma's first jot in her journal. "When it's time for me to go, I just want to know that my life made a difference.  Lord, help me take advantage of every opportunity to touch others in ways that demonstrate your love"  Then the story unfolds between journal entries.
Also, you will find a length of off white antique lace, Bee's Wax,  3 antique Mother of Pearl button cards and a Mother of Pearl Cross.  Items that I hope you like as much as I do.

Please leave a comment about:

How many sewing machines do you currently use on a regular basis? Do you have a favorite?  Why is it your favorite?

Thank you all for your lovely comments.  I treasure them.

And!  Don't think I have forgotten that I told you all I would do another Giveaway when I reached 75 posts!!!  I remember!!  I had no idea it would be so soon but I am excited and gathering things together for you.  You will see in a couple of days!!

One of my  sons baked me a Birthday Cake
It took 3 of them to light the candles  (at the same time)  before they melted.
I liked all the candles!

First Old Fashioned Baby Give Away!

Little items that I love and hope you will too!
Well, I was secretly waiting to have 50 Followers and then do my first Give Away!  And before I could get myself organized I have 51.  How exciting!!  Now,  I am new to this give away stuff so any helpful hints for the future will be appreciated!  I thought I would pick some special things  to give one lucky person. I chose the Woman's New Testament Bible, antique Button Cards (Mother of Pearl of course), antique Needle package, Mother of Pearl crosses, Mother of Pearl Slide and some Antique Baby Lace.
So... I will take the comments (one comment here each, please) from this post and draw a name. Please share my blog with others because I will do this again when I reach 75!!  Please don't comment here unless you love that stuff in the picture.  I want it all to go to a good and loving home!!
This is the question for the comments.  Please tell me why you like to visit my blog.

I will draw the name on January 18 at 9  pm and post the name on Tuesday (if I have time, I will do it on Monday night but please don't stay up late waiting!!)
