Binge Sewing or Day 8

This is the result of sewing late, late, late into the night and all day today!!

We have Victoria's (and Grams!) quilt almost completely done.  She goes home tonight!

My Sewing Week in Pictures - Day 7

Victoria and I spent the day sewing on her Quilt.

Day 7

But first - we went to Coffee Call again.

Today Victoria took the braids out of her hair for that wavy look.

We were really surprised to find the temperature had dropped to freezing and the trees sparkled from the ice adorning them.  Pretty! and cold!

It's not spring yet, after all.

We had not ventured out of the house (sewing room - mostly) until this morning.

Both  Dog and  Cat were comfy inside with us.

And we stitched into the wee hours! 

Lookin' Good!!

My Sewing Week in Pictures - Day Six

Our first Pinwheel - Done!

Day 6

But the day didn't begin with Pinwheels.

First - I French Braided her hair (just like I used to do her mothers!)

Then we went to Coffee Call.  I love the Cafe au lait.  

She loves the Beignets!

Next - we sewed our little hearts out!

And made much progress.

Tea Party break - or late lunch with tea and King Cake.

Victoria has made a list of all my teapots and is trying to use a different teapot each  Tea Time until she has used everyone.  (she will have to visit alot to do that!)

Back to Sewing. 

 Victoria is very particular.  She irons everything precisely and sews slowly and carefully.  So her stitching looks great.  She is a die hard seamstress at 15….wanted to just keep sewing!

My Sewing Week in Pictures - Day Five

I am making half square triangles.  Another term learned!

I am working on a border for my 18 Months Quilt!

Day Five

After all this work, I decided I wanted it to fit a double bed.

So I have been thinking of ways to enlarge it with out doing more dreaded blocks!

The only answer is borders.

It's a lovely Day!  My daffodils are blooming.  

And my family is coming over this afternoon, so my sewing time is short.

It was mild enough to sit out on the porch in the evening.

The weather is crazy this year!

Is it spring?

Victoria and I picked out the fabrics for her quilt. 

My Granddaughter is staying with me for  a few days.

We are going to start her quilt tomorrow!   We've been talking about it for months. We finally decided on Pinwheels which I think are so cute.
 I can't wait to begin.

My Sewing Week in Pictures - Day Four

This morning I inked in the embroidery design I am using for my class at Farmhouse Fabrics.

Day Four

I also finally decided on THE embroidery design that will go on the matching bonnet.

I tend to make final decisions at the last moment.

It's just my way.  Don't rush me!!

I had company on this fine morning.   

My sewing cat likes to be right in the way.

I am putting the blocks together wtih the sashing between them.

And  I  worked on my 18 Month Quilt!  

Wow!  I can't believe I have done this quilt.  I am quite impressed with myself.

I couldn't (and wouldn't) have done it with out my Friend!!

My Sewing Week in Pictures - Day Three

I worked some more on my French Handsewers Guild Project.

At this point I am simply stitching the running stitch to prepare it for the next step.

…I don't know what the next step is yet - that's another program.

Day Three

Another Day - Another Tea Party with a Friend!!

It must seem like my life is but a Tea Party.  

I wish it was!

This is turning out to be a fine week with stitching company twice already!

I learned that this block is called a "Snowball".

I also did some stitching on this quilt. 

 My  Hand -Quilting neighbor is mentoring me on hand piecing and quilting.  This is a quilt I am doing with her.

My Brown Dog likes to nap beneath the window in my Sewing Room, behind the little sofa.

I might forget he is there - but he snores!

My Sewing Week in Pictures - Day Two

Working on my French Handsewers Guild project - Boutis.

Day Two

I spent the morning in front of the fire stitching and reading and drinking hot cocoa.

(will this be my last fire of the year?)

My sweet Brown Dog was right beside me.

In the afternoon, I worked on my quilt.  After 18 Months - I finally have the squares done and are stitching the blocks together.  This is the quilt I started with my Friend - my introduction into quilting.

(hers is completely finished, quilted and folded nicely)

 I am motivated to finish it because I can see the light at the end of the sewing tunnel!!

My Sewing Week in Pictures - Day One

Embroidery on my slip.

I was inspired by a post on Creations by Michie's Blog  - "A Week in Pictures".  I loved the idea.  I decided to take a picture representing what I did sewing wise for each day of the week.

Day One

I finished a slip that is part of an outfit for a class I am teaching at Farmhouse Fabrics.

I will be teaching  toward the end of March….in no time at all!!

The armholes are finished with the Shell Hem.  It's a bit trickier to stitch the Shell Hem on the armholes rather than the neck of the slip because the bias is more pronounced.

It was a wet and dreary day.

Which made it a perfect day for Tea and stitching with a friend.
