She made this dress in a class with the Victorian Smockers in 2014.

The class is "Rosebuds and Hemstitching a Baby Daydress".

Class Project by Susan

Susan finished the class project from my class with the Victorian Smockers.

The dress is made using the OFB pattern "Baby Daydresses".

This Dress design is not in the pattern but you can purchase a kit which includes the design.

(you will also need the pattern!)

One of my favorite classes! 

 Blue Linen dress with hemstitching, lace, tucks and Bullions Roses.

She made a little matching Bonnet too.

I love to see the finished garment after I teach a class!!

It makes me feel so…useful.

A Blue Bonnet

Blue Linen Hemstitched Bonnet with sweet Rosebuds!

Stitched by a student from the Victorian Smockers workshop.

It is so pretty! 

She made it using the drawing I did on the board.  Just an idea for a bonnet to match the dress they were making.

And she stitched it into reality!

Cristine's Yellow Dress.

This yellow dress is bright and pretty  and is smocked at the yoke.

But the thing I love about it is the lace insertion that has been Pinstitched (no less) between the smocked waves…right on top of the pleats.  Cool, huh?

Teaching For the Victorian Smockers - Two

Teaching in Florida for the Victorian Smockers Saga group.

We stitched an easy Old Fashioned Placket in the back of our Baby Daydress.

Notice the big windows at the back of the classroom.  The space was so nice.

Very diligent students!

Sunny and warm at lunch outside under the Palm Trees!!

Meals were exciting because there was a Chef who cooked such delicious (and healthy) food. 

And I loved eating out in the sunshine after the cold weather in Baton Rouge.

In Florida With the Victorian Smockers!

I recently returned from teaching for the Victorian Smockers in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

South Florida in February.

It was fun to be with this group of ladies. 

 They love to sew and have a good time doing it!

The dress is made of fine linen.  

We removed threads from the fabric to prepare for the hemstitching before we cut it out.

We had a little fun as we talked about how we could make a Bonnet to match the dress if we were careful about cutting out our sleeves.

I am so pleased that the Victorian Smockers used my pattern and my blog lesson as a group.  It is always more fun (and easier to learn) to sew as a group.

Sad to tell you, the Priscilla Layette pattern is now out of print!!  I am working on a pattern that will incorporate some of the designs but it will not be the exact pattern.  So, if you have this pattern, hang on to it!!

The Victorian Smockers Guild sent me some more pictures of their guild in action!  They are doing a project together by following my Blog Lesson on Priscilla's Layette Daygown  and meeting to stitch it together.  I will let them speak for themselves in this post!

The Victorian Smockers use My Blog Lessons!!

The Victorian Smockers SAGA Guild is doing the Post for my Blog  today!!

Hi Jeannie,

The Victorian Smockers SAGA chapter in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida met today to start a three month daygown project.  We are using the tutorial from your blog to follow along with the instructions and learn some Old Fashioned Baby techniques.  Pat printed the blog directions through lesson 4.  That is what we worked on today. We will use our next two monthly meetings to work on the Priscilla Daygown and hopefully will have lots of little pretties to show you. We all agree that your tutorial is wonderful and we can't wait for the next meeting.  Hope you enjoy the photos.  See you next month.  Oh, and thanks for the beeswax you sent along with the patterns.

Although I really like my pattern Baby weights, I must say, using pretty  Stirling Silver Spoons is very classy!  

Susan is doing a great job!  Cutting outside the black lines!!

Susan and Pat are following the Priscilla Blog Lessons.

I can't help but notice the beautiful quilts in the background.  Very nice sewing environment!

I think she has marked her fabric and is ready to sew!

Beverly is already sewing!  She is going to have a hard time playing by the rules.  I can tell she wants to finish it before next month!

I like the cute print Beverly is using.

I am so excited that the Victorian Smockers are using my Blog Lessons.  And what fun for them  to get together to stitch. Everything is better when done with a friend.   I can't wait until they send me more pictures next month.  I better get that slip Lesson posted.  They will need a slip to go with their daygowns!!
