Baby in White

I love Baby in white.  It's so classic and clean and crisp.

Londyn loves to play with the Kitties in the quilt I made her.

She is trying to pick them up!!

And sometimes she seems to randomly roll over!

This little baby girl will be crawling soon.

And then no more day gowns to play in!  She is moving so quickly along.

It is a good thing I already have lots of sweet garments for her to wear.

I would never have time to sew them now!!

Let this be a warning to  you.  You better start stitching.

Soft Mint Daygown Kit Available - Vintage Materials.

Baby Londyn is  wearing her Geiger Daygown, when she was 4 months old (I think)!

This Daygown is made from the original "Geiger" Batiste which Bear Threads sold.  They have since copied the original because it is so yummy!!

I have some stock in the original.

 Londyn was younger in this photo.  Learning as I go along…

This Daygown is made using "Baby's First Daygowns" pattern and View 3.

In this photo Londyn is 5 months old and weighs 13 lbs and change.

What a difference a few weeks can make.

The Daygown is still plenty big on her.

A kit is available to make this Daygown using the vintage materials.

What a great opportunity to copy this sweet little garment.

Embroidered Raglan Daygown on Baby Londyn

Londyn weighs almost 12 lbs here and is about 12 weeks old.

Such a cutie!!

Baby Londyn is wearing a Daygown made from blue Satin Batiste.

The pattern is "Embroidered Raglan Daygowns"

She thinks it tastes mighty good!

I made this gown entirely by hand….just for the fun of it! And I'm thrilled to see it on my new Granddaughter. Cute and comfortable.

Happy Valentines Day Baby Londyn

Happy very first Valentines Day,  Baby London.

Wearing a daygown I just made for her and a smocked Baby Bonnet.

I embroidered her initials at the hem.

And a heart for this little Cutie Pie!!

Roses are Red

Violets are Blue

Sugar is Sweet

And so are You!!

Smocked Baby Clothes - Daygown

White is Classic for ALL Baby Clothes!

This Daygown made from my pattern Smocked Baby Clothes is beautiful in white Daygown Lawn.

It features lace at the collar and sleeve but not along the front facing.

And the yoke is attaced using piping.

It is smocked in white and accented with pink Bullion Roses.

My signature Rosebud at the back of the Daygown!

Smocked Baby Clothes - Daygown

This luscious Daygown is from my Smocked Baby Clothes pattern.

It was featured in a Sew Beautiful magazine.  The focus of the article was Honeycomb Smocking.

The fabric is Bear Threads Swiss Flannel in Pink.

Here is my Sweet Baby Betsy wearing this Daygown.

(she is my antique Store Mannequin - a gift from a fiend)

The long sleeve on this daygown is slightly full, giving it an elegant look.

I am very fond of Smocked Sleeves because the sleeve has some give to it.

In fact Smocking is decorative way to gather fabric and that is what you see in this sleeve.

                                     

I have added a bullion Rosebud to the collar.  And hand stitched gently gathered lace to the collar.

Notice where the yoke meets the smocking.  Instead of piping to join them, I used a Flat Lace Edging.

I always think it looks unfinished if you don't use something at the join.

I used Madeira Silk Embroidery Floss to embroider between the buttons.

This has to be one of my all time favorites.

The Swiss Flannel is soft, pretty wrinkle free and just plain yummy. There is extra delight in holding a little baby dressed in this fabric.

Cute Baby Girl in Pretty Dress!

Jane sent this sweet picture. 

She made this dress in a class with the Victorian Smockers in 2014.

Sweet. Sweet. Sweet.

The class is "Rosebuds and Hemstitching a Baby Daydress".

Hemstitching is so much fun.

I love making this dress!  I love all the techniques on it!  I love the way it looks!

Pretty Baby Daydress - In Orlando

I'm here at the Smocking National Convention in Orlando

In my class we've been having fun stitching on a Baby Daydress.  We are using my pattern Baby Daydresses and are making one of the views featured in the pattern.

Every little Baby Girl should have a wardrobe of Daydresses!

This Daydress was inspired by  old French Acadian Christening Gowns that are popular in South Louisiana.  Very Girly! Very Old Fashioned Baby!

With lots of my favorite stitch - Featherstitching!

And some good machine construction details.

I wish you could have come!

Handmade Baby Blanket and Daygown at Sew Sew's

This is the last item to show from my Sew Sew's get together.

If you click to enlarge this picture you can see how Carole stitched trim on either side of her day gown.  Again she used my out of print pattern but this technique would be great on Baby's First Daygown!

The Blanket she made to give with this Daygown is to die for!

Carole crocheted around the Blanket in her famous method that makes a beading through which you can thread a ribbon. (don't ask me how, I'm not that smart!)

And she used a poly ribbon to make the beautiful Bow that was secured with French Knots.

How clever she is!

(I know the Mother-to-Be must be very excited when Carole is invited to her Baby Shower)
