Pretty Baby Clothes at It's Sew Heavenly!

Believe it or not, this is hanging in the bathroom!!

This is an antique Christening Gown in the Sew Heavenly Shop.

I love the idea of hanging it inside a frame!!

This is a Flower Girl dress made from Embroidered Organdy.

Lacie was sweet enough to send me a picture of the front of the It's Sew Heavenly shop since I didn't get a picture of it!

A pretty dress in a lovely peach fabric.

The tucks on the hem are put in with hemstitching!

Neat Feature!

The Yoke is an overlay which is easy to do.  You can use a pretty Swiss Embroidery for the overlay too.  My Antique Toddler Dress or Baby Gowns would be perfect patterns for this technique.

White Wednesday -Pretty Bonnet and Daygown

I will be teaching for the National Convention of the Smocking Arts Guild of America in September.  The National Convention is an annual event that takes place in a different host city every year.  Wonderful women who love sewing get together for a great time! This year it will be held in Norfolk.

Both the Bonnet and the Daygown design were inspired by vintage garments.

One of the classes I will teach is the Sweet and Simple Embellished Daygown and Bonnet.  It is a two day class.  I love two day classes because it allows students to really learn  the techniques I am teaching. They will get alot done on their Daygown which is fun for them!  And I

love

this little Daygown and Bonnet so it will be especially fun for me.

I absolutely love it when people send me pictures of baby clothes they have made using my patterns.  

I was thrilled to receive the picture of this beautiful pink Daygown and Bonnet!!

White Wednesday - White Embroidery on Baby Gown

Design using OFB pattern "Old Fashioned Baby Layette".

This gown was published in Sew Beautiful Magazine issue #89.

The fabric is Swiss Batiste.  It features White on White embroidery.

The lace insertions down the front lends princess-style detailing to the gown.  Tiny Featherstitching runs along the side of the lace.

The fabric was cut from behind the lace, giving it an airy look.

The lace insertion at the hem appears to have tiny fagoting on either side but it is all one piece of lace.

The embroidery design includes eyelets, buttonhole eyelet flowers, stem/outline stitch, tiny bullion buds and applique cord.

White Wednesday -Baby Raglan Daygown

This is View 2 of the pattern "Embroidered Raglan Daygowns.
View 2 has the heirloom embroidery on it.  Very classic!
This little daygown has raglan sleeves which makes it very comfortable for baby.  

The Raglan style also makes it fit longer because there are no shoulder seams.

It buttons in the back so there is the whole front to embellish!

And it's long enough to cover baby's little toes.

The Yoke embroidery is shown using a pale peachy pink.

This is part of the hem embroidery.  The embroidery design is included in the pattern.  I used very easy stitches here.  Lazy Daisy and  French Knots.  You could substitute Bullion Flowers with Eyelet centers for a more challenging design.

This sleeve has little pleats at the edge instead of gathers.

This makes it more appealing for boys.

And for a more tailored look, use Baby Tatting instead of Baby Lace.

Pattern used is  Embroidered Raglan Daygowns.

Fits to size 18 lbs (about 6 months)

White Wednesday -Baby Anna's Circa 1920 Bonnet

Baby Anna's Circa 1920 Bonnet

This is the bonnet we were making at the Elegant Stitces Retreat.

The Brim is made up of three triangle pieces.

This bonnet is a reproduction

 of one made circa 1920 for Anna by Mrs. Barrett.

The center Brim Piece overlaps the other two Brim pieces.

The center Brim piece has  a  pretty embroidery design on it.

All three Brim pieces have Lace Edging slightly gathered and stitched  around them.

A little Bullion Rosebud (taken from the center Brim design) graces the side Brim pieces.

The ribbon edge is turned under to enclose any raw edges.

Silk Satin ribbon is attached to the side fronts of the Bonnet.

The ribbon is sewn to the wrong side of the bonnet.

Notice the pretty entredeux that is used to finish the neck.

A pretty ball Mother of Pearl Button is sewn to the right side edge.

 I used beautiful French Maline Laces for the Bonnet.

Gathered Lace Edging  is stitched around the bonnet. 

 The lace is also stitched around the back crown.

The Bonnet is made from Swiss Nelona weight Batiste.

I can't wait to see a little baby face in this bonnet!

Fabric is wonderful pink Dotted Swiss.  The real thing!

Laces are Maline.

Baby Dress is from Emma's Smocked Baby Dresses.

I just received my Sew Beautiful magazine.  This is my little dress that is featured in this issue.

The fabric is fabulous Dotted Swiss in blue.

I stitched lace edging at the hem line.

The cute little collar looks like it has a little tab on it but it is just the lace!

White Wednesday -Baby Rose Dress

This dress is from my OFB pattern "Baby Rose".

It is made from White Fairy Fabric, with a white  scalloped Hem.

The yoke has a pretty  Lace Embellishment.  I stitched the lace over the fabric and did not cut the fabric away from beneath the lace.

Between the Lace Insertion are tiny rows of machine stitched tucks.  Yes, I said machine stitched!  I used the edge foot to make them so easily and fast!

Bullion Rosebuds are at the tip of the Lace on the yoke.  And I attached the front to the sleeve (front and back) using entredeux.  Really easy with this pattern.

It has a fancy sleeve as well.  The Lace Insertion has been Machine Pin-stitched to the fabric, but the Featherstitch is all by hand!

The Scalloped Hem has been finished using the Machine Hemstitch.  The pink Featherstitching accents the white hem.
