Old Featherstitching on Linen

This Featherstitching was on an old Linen Pillowcase. 

Real Linen, as in Linen fabric.

Oh to have had this Pillowcase brand new.  With gorgeous lace, fine hemstitching and beautiful featherstitching.  Who wouldn't have sweet dreams?

When the Pillowcase wore out, they must have cut off the end to save the lace.

But if you look closely at the top you can see that they cut right through the featherstitching! :(

Pretty Baby Daydress - In Orlando

I'm here at the Smocking National Convention in Orlando

In my class we've been having fun stitching on a Baby Daydress.  We are using my pattern Baby Daydresses and are making one of the views featured in the pattern.

Every little Baby Girl should have a wardrobe of Daydresses!

This Daydress was inspired by  old French Acadian Christening Gowns that are popular in South Louisiana.  Very Girly! Very Old Fashioned Baby!

With lots of my favorite stitch - Featherstitching!

And some good machine construction details.

Teaching in Dothan Alabama - Baby Daydress

Baby Daydress is from the OFB pattern Old Fashioned Baby Daydress.

This is the pattern view of the little White Baby Daydress we will be making for the Sat. class when I am teaching for The Smock Shoppe.

This is one of the sweetest little dresses I've made!

We will stitch lace to fabric.

We will work hand stitched tucks. Not hard!

Don't you love the way the Featherstitching looks with the light behind the dress?

Here is your chance to perfect your Featherstitching, as well as pick up some other skills!

Spend a fun day sewing with me as I show you all the wonderful techniques needed to make this lovely little Daydress for your special baby.  In class you will begin embellishing the dress front with lace, tucks, Bullion Rosebuds and the Old Fashioned Double Featherstitch.  You will also stitch the old fashioned Baby Placket using a neat finish that leaves no raw edges.  I  will also demonstrate how to stitch entredeux to fabric using the old fashioned method and how to stitch evenly gathered lace edging to entredeux, along with tips for finishing this dress at home.
