The Sunbonnet Sweet Peas

Sweet peas growing in my back garden!

"See the pretty sweet peas
Growing in the sun;
How they lift their faces up
Laughing every one,
So the sun may peep inside
their pink bonnets,
big and wide."
From The Sunbonnet Babies' Primer,  1902

I have cute Sunbonnet Baby Embroidery Designs in my  Jeannie B's Book of Heirloom Embroidery Designs and Stitches.

So beautiful! I love sweet peas and usually plant them in Nov. here. My husband and I have an annual battle for the sunny fence space. He won this year and has sugar snaps and Louisiana Purple Pod beans (yum) planted. I can't complain too much!
