Lunch at Homas House Plantation

This is one of the Kitchen Gardens at Homas House Plantation.

My Granddaughter and I went for lunch a few days ago.

Miah

We had a nice table by the window.

Then we spent a bit of time wandering through the gardens.

We had a lovely day!

Taking Pictures of a Bonnet

This bonnet is from the class "French Acadian Christening Bonnet".
I had to take pictures of class projects to update my Saga class files.
So, I headed to my garden for better light.

This bonnet was fashioned after many of the Christening Bonnets in South Louisiana.

I took liberties by adding a little color in this bonnet.

It is made by hand.  Pure pleasure in the stitching.
Nothing hard about it.

It features tiny pin tucks, hemstitching, featherstitching, pretty lace and fine fabric.
This lace is not available anymore
but there are many other pretty laces to be had!

Stepping back from my bonnet to show you my garden.

The flowers are blooming ..
life is good in my little garden!

Happy flowers to you.

A Book and Moonflowers!

This is the book I am currently reading.
It takes place right after WW2

And this was a surprise this morning.
My Moonflowers were still opened when I woke up this morning!

They open at dusk and close before the sun comes up but perhaps due to the cool weather, they were still completely open this morning.

They are very pretty.  About the size of a tea saucer, they have a slight sweet smell.  I love that they bloom in the light of the moon!

Happy Morning to you!

Garden Tea, A Tea Cosy and Aunt Dimity

This is the stitching on my tea cosy that was made by my friend Judy, so many years ago.

And true, everything is sweeter when shared with a friend.
Especially Tea!

I had tea in my garden this morning.
It is cool enough in the early morning to enjoy.

This was my friend.

And I have to share this book with you!!

I am in love with this book and have already ordered the next two in this series.  It is sweet, it is old fashioned, it is so interesting and fun and entertaining.

And how can you not love a book with the title "Aunt Dimity"?  One of my very favorite fabrics!

And I watched the Morning Glories Glow.

And all the flowers grow.

It was a fine morning.

The air smells so sweet as you walk by this bush!

 and the flower fades,
but the word of the Lord remains forever"
