Flower Smocking

I printed this Smocking Design in Creative Needle many, many years ago.  I was inspired by a vintage book called  Priscilla's Smocking Book.

Flower Smocking!  Love that name.

Design from the vintage book.

This was the first class I ever taught for a Smocking Arts Guild of America convention.  The class was called Smocked Victorian Garden.

My favorite is my lady bug.
Bullions, French Knots and Lazy Daisies!
Embroidery on pleated fabric.

This is the little dress I stitched it on.

This really is Embroidery on pleated fabric!  It is embroidery with a different twist because you have to work on top of the pleats.

The dress and the embroidery are beautiful. The colors you used make me think of Spring.

That is utterly lovely. So...how do those of us who didn't subscribe to Creative Needle years ago get the pattern?

I guess I will need to print it and offer it on my web site. If you are interested, email me.

Beautiful. I have all my Creative Needle magazines packed away. I couldn't get rid of them. I was so sad when they chose to stop publication.

Jeannie...that is beautiful!!! Would you share with us what issue of CN it was in. I have some back issues and I'd love to hunt for it.

I have my article torn out of the magazine (in a binder) and it is May/June. Doesn't say the year but I think it was 1992.
