Daygown Design and Saga Retreat!

I  LOVE Baby Daygowns!
and
I  LOVE Designing!

I have  combined these two loves into one great class.

Daygown Design and Application Class!

What do the following pictures have in common?
Look close!
Cute little boy in a taylored Daygown.
Daygowns are the mainstay of every baby's wardrobe.

In this class we will explore many, many different looks that you can create for Daygowns.

This Daygown features old fashioned "under-tucks" for additional fullness.
Thy can have Tucks and pretty embroidery.

They can be made for Special Occasions.

OK, did you figure out what the four pictures had in common?  Yes, they are all daygowns, but that isn't the answer.

The Answer:  They are all made from the same Daygown pattern. Baby's First Daygowns.
But all of  the above designs are not included in the pattern.

The trims, techniques and embellishments made them all different.

The blue book is one of my design notebooks that I have been filling with ideas for years!

Sometimes I will pull out my books and create a different design using one of my patterns and elements from my design books.  The two pages of Daygown Embroidery in my Embroidery Book are an example.

In this class we will look at many ways we can create different designs, just like the old antique daygowns (two are never the same) and we will use one front button pattern.  Baby's First Daygowns.
Bring an old Daygown and we will discuss how to re-create it.

Tucks?  Gathers?  Pleats?

Frilly or Simple?

Then we will each choose and put together the elements we want and create our own special  Daygown.  That's the application part.  You get to apply what you are learning right in class before you go home and forget!    Fabric and Lace included.

Too much fun!!

And it's all happening at the first ever Saga Retreat in April, 2013.
Sign up early as classes are expected to fill at this event.
