Antique Swiss Embroideries

This is also from Betty's family Lace Collection.

I was so excited to see the large pieces of Swiss embroideries. Oh how I wish I could go down to the fabric store and purchase this by the yard!

This is my favorite piece with the openwork bordering the embroidery.  With old textiles you need to be very careful that the piece is stable enough to actually use in a garment.  Much of this yardage had small holes or weak areas but there is some that might be used for  what ever you can imagine.

I am imagining a pretty yoke….fancy sleeves and if you could eek out enough undamaged Swiss, maybe a pretty hem.  Or a Christening Bonnet. It wouldn't get too much wear and tear!

Ladies, get out your handed down lace and use it on something  special!!
(then send me pictures)
