Last month we took advantage of a FREE program at the Audubon State Historic Site.
A tour through the woods guided by John James Audubon (actually, it was an actor representing him).
We listened to bird calls.
Amazing that many of our group could "name that bird" by the sound.
There was lots of beauty in the woods.
And several big scary spiders! Click to enlarge.
It was a wonderful morning. The park includes a home where John J. Audubon lived as a tutor.
He went through the woods to draw birds of the area.
In St. Francisville, Louisiana, it's a great place to visit.

Years ago, I visited Oakley Plantation. It is a treasure! While the Audubon tour was not available then, there were lots of Audubon works displayed and homage to his stay there was featured. I have family in Baton Rouge; perhaps I can revisit someday!
