Baby Londyn is toddling!

Love her little chubby legs and they are so cute in her new shoes.

I can't begin to tell you how much fun Londyn and I are having!

Sweet Little Pumpkin!

A very cute little Pumpkin!

My pumpkin is on the front row....far right.

Our family got together and carved pumpkins.

It was a fun time to be together and have all my Louisiana Grand kids in one place.

This photo was taken of Victoria, myself and Londyn before the other kids arrived.  And I never did get that photo with all of them together!

Londyn in Pink!

Today, Miss London is wearing my French Acadian Sundress made in pink.

It is the 9 Month size.

It is fashioned after the sundresses made in South Louisiana for so many years.

The originals were all made by hand but I used a sewing machine.

Except for the embroidery and finishing.

She is such a doll!

Baby Summer Clothes Diaper Shirt

Londyn is so silly!

My pattern "Baby's Summer Clothes" has been reprinted three times because it is just so darn cute!

If you look close you can see the Shadow Embroidered Chickie that has been a part of the pattern since the beginning. 

There are several different garment/styles in the one pattern.

There is a bubble that goes under this Diaper Shirt but Londyn  frequently wears Fancy Pants with it.

I have learned so much about practical and pretty baby clothes since Londyn was born.

Baby's can not crawl in dresses! They just can't.  We were always tucking the hem in her ruffled panties or tieing it up behind her back.

The Diaper Shirt is perfect for the crawling baby.  She can move around unencumbered by her clothing.  And still be adorable!

Laundry Day!

I usually wash and press some of Londyn's Baby Clothes on the days that I take care of her.

On this day I decided to wash and starch a whole bunch  of them and that required some place to hang them.  The front porch was perfect for it.  The rod that held hanging baskets seemed made to order for this purpose.

I used liquid starch and dunked them thoroughly before squeezing the excess starch out.

The little Bishop in the front is a vintage dress I have had for along time, planning to copy it.

The well worn fabric of this vintage beauty washes beautifully.

Londyn looks adorable in it!

One of my all time favorite patterns is "Emma's Smocked Baby Dresses".  This is a pale blue Dotted Swiss fabric from Capitol Imports.  It's delicious!  Unfortunately this pattern is almost out of print and is only available in my Web Shop.

It is very satisfying to leave a closet full of neatly pressed dresses for Londyn.

(I adore ironing baby clothes!)

I am so lucky my children love to dress her in them.

Details of Baby Rose - View 3

What a sweetie she is!!

In her Baby Rose Raglan Dresses View 3

The Featherstitching and Seedstitch is worked between the raglan sleeves before it is gathered.

When the fabric is pulled up, it has a sweet and subtle design.

Featherstitching is also worked along the seam of the sleeves.

The hem was stitched in place using embroidery floss to match the embroidery on the dress. It is a Running Stitch but made a bit larger so it will show up.

Here is the dress laid out flat.

It looks so much more amazing when a baby wears it.

There is a kit available with a nice Lawn, Lace, Entredeux and Embroidery Floss.

Londyn Wearing "Baby Rose Raglan Dresses View 3"

This is the cutest Baby Dress ever!

It is so simple and so Old Fashioned Baby.

Londyn is 9 Months old and the Infant  size fits her beautifully.

Infant fits to 18 lbs (and she is 17lbs).

Londyn is such a happy girl.

The raglan sleeves make such a difference in fitting a baby.  It's comfortable and looks good on all sizes.

Baby Rose Raglan Dresses View 3 has Featherstitching and Seed Stitch as a simple embellishment to the front.  The front is embroidered before it is gathered up to fit the neck, giving the Featherstitching a slightly different look.

Plain Sewing - But Cute!

Londyn is wearing a  little overall I made her.  It was fun to stitch up something "by the pattern" and so easily done.  

The pattern is sized 1/2 but way too big for this tiny girl.

But she is so cute in it!!

I used this old pattern I've had for over 30 years.

It is a Simplicity #6362 - I have no idea if it is still available.

The fabric is a Babycord (no longer being made) that is so soft and cute!  I am back to the cutting table to make her one in a smaller size!

Baby Rose Dress Details

I used a Champagne color for the lace. It looks so nice with the pale green fabric!

The sleeve is finished with entredeux, baby lace beading and gathered lace edging.

Ribbon is threaded through the beading. The beading works well  because you can adjust the ribbon to fit the little arm as baby grows.

This embroidery was created for a class I taught.

There is an embroidery design that is included in the pattern which is similar.

This photo of a different fabric and lace (but same dress) shows the openwork stitch which was a feature in the class I taught. 

The sleeve was attached to the dress using entredeux.

Baby in Green Baby Rose Dress

My Granddaughter, Londyn, is wearing OFB pattern Baby Rose  Raglan Dress View 1.

The fabric is sheer mint green Swiss Fairy Fabric.

She is pleased to show you that she is indeed, wearing a slip under her pretty little dress.  

(as is only proper)

This Raglan Dress is the perfect fit for Baby and will fit longer and better than a Yoke Dress.

Baby in a Cute Slip

Baby Londyn is wearing my Little Yoke Slip.

The Little Yoke Slip  is perfect as a slip or a Summer Slip Dress.

Because I made  this slip to go underneath a dress......

I used a shear fabric that matched the dress.

I  finished the neck edge and the armholes with a hand Shell Hem.  

And added pretty embroidery on the yoke.

For a Summer Slip Dress, I would choose a fabric that was not so transparent.

Perhaps a Lawn or Dress Weight Batiste.

Plenty to choose from.

"Give me the joys of summer,

    Of SUMMER QUEEN so fair,

With wealth of lovely flowers

    And fruits and sun-kissed air!"

Baby Londyn in Heirloom Dress

Londyn is wearing a true Heirloom. 

 It's a baby dress that her maternal Grandmother wore.

How nice that it was saved to be worn by Londyn.

There is a hint of  color to this White dress because of the blue slip worn under it.

Very pretty details on this dress.

Baby in a Romper

Baby Londyn looks so cute in her  Redwork Romper. 

It's the perfect outfit for a busy  crawler.

The Romper has a cute and simple back with a placket.

But she is growing out of it.  

Good thing my pattern Best Embroidered Baby Clothes Package Two has three sizes to choose from so I can make her another one in a larger size.

The embroidery design is not included in the pattern.  But it is available in The kit in my Web Shop.

There are cute designs that are included in the pattern.

You can reproduce this neck finish on any garment.

 All you need to do is finish the neck with a Bias Binding, stitch gathered lace edging under the Bias.  Then work a nice and even Running Stitch, using floss,  right where the lace meets the Bias.

The pocket is in the pattern.  I love, love, love this little pocket.  The embroidery design is in the Kit. And barely gathered lace edging is stitched around the  pocket.

"See those scales a'tipping.

Way up high they go!

It surely is the biggest thrill
