French Acadian Christening Gown Class

French Acadian Christening Gown Class

The making of a Christening Gown is the most cherished stitching you will ever do in your lifetime!  It is a task of pure joy.  This November at It's Sew Heavenly you will have the opportunity to spend three wonderful days stitching a Christening Gown and matching Bonnet under my supervision.  I will carefully guide you through the skills and techniques needed to make this exquisite Christening Gown.  This particular gown is  stitched in the traditional French Acadian style and has been inspired by the old gowns made by the French Acadian women in the early 1900's.  This 27" length gown is embellished with pin tucks, hemstitching , embroidery and lace.   Although originally made by hand, our gown will be stitched using  sewing machines with hand sewn embellishments.  You will marvel as your skills progress in this class.  You will leave class with the knowledge and confidence needed to complete this Christening Gown and Bonnet, with much of it already made.  Come down to South Louisiana where the living is easy as you relax and enjoy the southern hospitality and fine sewing.  And a little piece of history will go home with you.
