Daygown Sew Along - Picture Gallery!!

                                                                                                                                        

Belinda used pink Floche on white fabric for her Embroidered Raglan Daygown.

Today I will show you the pictures of Sew Along Daygowns that were sent to me.  Many of you emailed me and told me you were not finished yet but planned to finish.  I am happy with your kind words and enthusiasm.

Lisa used Blue Satin Batiste and stitched a Shadow Embroidered Bunny on the front of her Embroidered Raglan Daygown.  She trimmed her Embroidered Raglan Daygown with baby tatting.  For more photos, visit Lisa at her Blog.

Marcy's Daygown with gathered lace edging.

Debbie used blue and stitched the design included with my pattern.

Chris made a pink Daygown with a Bonnet to match.

Susan sent a picture of one of her favorite parts of making her Daygown, the embroidery.  Many of you mentioned that you liked stitching the embroidery.

Marie made a slip to go with her Daygown.  And I know several of you are making a slip to go with your Daygown.

I am pleased so many of you liked the embroidery design included in the pattern.

Cassie made hers from pink lawn and used white embroidery floss.  She also used Fancy Entredeux on the neck and sleeves. 

They are all lovely!  So many of you wrote to tell me that you discovered that Handsewing was not as time consuming as you thought it was going to be.  And you really like it! 

Yes, I will do another Sew Along.  Right now my mind is occupied with teaching for the SAGA convention and I hope to meet some of you there!  But I will let you know about the next one!!

Victoria in Smocked Dress

Every year I make a Easter Bunny Cake, despite my lack of cake decorating skills!  

This year Easter and Victoria's birthday were side by side.

My friend Catherine made this pretty dress with lots of smocking!  The pattern is a Childrens Corner but I don't know which one and knowing Catherine, she combined them.

  French Acadian Christening Gown by Susie on display at the Woodlawn Neeldework Show.

Susie Gay entered her  Christening Gown in the Woodlawn Needlework Show.  She received a First Place, Second Place and a Judges Award!    Hooray for Susie!! She is supporting the Heirloom Sewing Arts!

We aren't surprised!  It is beautiful!  And the skill needed to complete it by hand is apparent in her work.

The Victorian Smockers use My Blog Lessons!!

The Victorian Smockers SAGA Guild is doing the Post for my Blog  today!!

Hi Jeannie,

The Victorian Smockers SAGA chapter in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida met today to start a three month daygown project.  We are using the tutorial from your blog to follow along with the instructions and learn some Old Fashioned Baby techniques.  Pat printed the blog directions through lesson 4.  That is what we worked on today. We will use our next two monthly meetings to work on the Priscilla Daygown and hopefully will have lots of little pretties to show you. We all agree that your tutorial is wonderful and we can't wait for the next meeting.  Hope you enjoy the photos.  See you next month.  Oh, and thanks for the beeswax you sent along with the patterns.

Although I really like my pattern Baby weights, I must say, using pretty  Stirling Silver Spoons is very classy!

I am so excited that the Victorian Smockers are using my Blog Lessons.  And what fun for them  to get together to stitch. Everything is better when done with a friend.   I can't wait until they send me more pictures next month.  I better get that slip Lesson posted.  They will need a slip to go with their daygowns!!

Lila is 5 1/2  months old in this picture.  She weighs about 18 lbs.

This is a picture of a dress I made.  The pattern calls for the extra Lacy Band you see on mine but it is just as cute with one Lacy Band.

  It looks good with one lacy band or two!

See!!  Baby is well and smiling in little garments made by Grandmama!!

Susie sent me pictures of this gown she made.  She took the French Hand Sewing  class I taught at a SAGA convention and this gown was the project.  Didn't she do a fabulous job?  It's a wonderful picture too, with the back lighting.

Susie's  Embroidery is so prettyl!  

Notice all the Featherstitching!! And most of it is the Antique Featherstitch.  Ooo Laa Laa!! I love it!!

Sweet Baby in "Baby's Smocked Layette" Daygown

What a lovely baby!  She is wearing the Daygown version from "Baby's Smocked Layette" pattern made in a soft pink Swiss Flannel.  The long sleeves and the center front are smocked using  white floche and there is lace at the neck and sleeves.  She looks so soft, comfortable and snuggly!  Her Mom took this amazing picture!

Isn't this a beautiful Baby Gown?  Martha was in my two day French Handsewing Class at the SAGA 2009 National Convention, where she began this gown.   She has finished it in record time (especially for a class project)!   Her work is fine!!   I hope she inspires you to finish your class projects too.

She will be the first  to receive this Certificate!

Newborn Baby in Priscilla's Layette Daygown

Journey is less than 2 weeks old here.

This lovely Daygown is made from the Lacy View 3 of Pricilla's Layette pattern.  It is made from a pale pink batiste (Old Fashioned Baby Daygown batiste) with lace frills.  And made by her proud Grandmother.  Notice how the beading at the wrists can be pulled up with ribbon to fit her tiny, newborn wrists!  Very Pretty Baby and very pretty Daygown and Bonnet.  It was her "Going Home From the Hospital" outfit.

Miah enters a "Sew with Cotton" contest

Miah loves to sew on my sewing machine.

Miah made an Apron for a 4 H contest.  It was a "Sew with Cotton" contest.  She loves to sew on the sewing machine, lickety split.  (I pushed the 1/2 speed button to slow her down).  I stuck a piece of blue tape on the machine to help her guide the fabric accurately.  She did very well.

She chose her fabric for the reversible apron.

This was the first garment Miah made all by herself (with me guiding her) and she was very proud of her Apron.  

I am so proud of Miah's patience and hard work!!

Miah won First Place in the Elementary Apron division AND was one of two girls chosen to go to the State 4-H Sewing Camp!!!

Ladies, we have to teach our children and Grandchildren to sew when they are young and have the interest!!  There isn't a little girl alive who at one time does not want to sew on a Sewing Machine!!

The Sew Sew Sisterhood

Sew Sew's having fun.  I am taking the picture and one lady was in Italy.

I belong to a little sewing circle that was started way long ago when we were still young (relatively speaking).  We each remember the beginning a little differently but for me, it was  an-off shoot of those of us who got together to pleat premie bonnets and have lunch at my house.  We thought it would be fun to get together and just sew what ever we were working on!

 

Lorraine B. hosted this Sew Sew's.  You will recognize Lorraine by her SAGA ribbons!

We decided there would be no more than 8 members because that was the most we could seat at our table for lunch. We always have sharing and it's fun to see what others have done.

I was working on a Wee Care gown which I forgot to Photo so had to take the picture at home.

 

I decided to leave off the vines around the Cross (from my Embroidery Book) but need to wash away the blue marks.  I am going to add lace to the hem.
