Baby's First Daygown - View 2

View 2  is my Fancy Daygown in this pattern.  It has a lovely lace yoke that features lace insertion bordered with lace edging.  And sweet embroidery is nestled inside the lace yoke.

This sweet Baby (about 5 weeks old)  is wearing the Newborn size with 3/4 length sleeves

Pretty, but not so much that it overwhelms baby.

My embroidery is Featherstiching and Bullions  but you can use the stitches you like best.

Front and back view.

I love the little Rosebud at the sleeve.

Materials:
1 yard fabric
1/2 yard lace insertion (3/8" wide)
 3 3/8 yards lace edging (3/8" or 1/2" wide)
3/8 yard entredeux
5 Baby Buttons

Baby's First Daygown View One

I am going to post several versions of  "Baby's Frist Daygowns"

Beginning with View 1

View 1 is a Classic Daygown.

This version is exactly like the View 1 in the pattern and is the easiest  Daygown ever to make.

No Tucks, no  lace and an easy sleeve finish.  A darling daygown!
It features a casing for ribbon to gather up the long sleeves.
(you could slip elastic in the sleeve if you wished)

The neck edge is finished with bias binding and narrow Swiss Edging is used along the edge of the front facings.
The embroidery is classic and simple.
 Featherstitching and Pinwheel Posie flowers.

It looks cute under a little Baby Sacque too!

Fabric suggestions are Lawn, Satin Batiste, Swiss Flannel and Linen.  For fancy use a Swiss Batiste or Bearissima II.

Materials:
1 yard fabric
1 1/4 yard of 1/8" or 1/4" swiss Edging (optional)
1 1/3 yard of narrow ribbon
5 Baby Buttons - 1/4" to 3/8" wide

Kitten Knitting Dish Cloth

I love vintage embroidered Dish Towels!

When I saw this one, I was immediately reminded of my Sister.
Who is a knitter.

A close up of this Outline/Stem stitch shows me that the embroideress was accomplished.

This is beautiful stitching.

Stitching By The Fire

Another lovely morning by the fire!
Sweet Brown Dog is keeping me company, as usual.

I have been stitching on this quilt for a year now.
The "Project Box" has gotten decidedly bigger as my quilt enlarges.

Lots of little stitches keeping that fabric together!

I am now stitching the outside border around this quilt.  That means I am almost done with the piecing!!

My goal was to get it ready to quilt before Christmas.  I don't think that's going to happen.  I still have the two long sides of the border to attach as well as stitching the backing to fit.

Lucky for me I am happy to re-arrange my goals rather than be dismayed.
In fact, when I started this quilt, my goal was to finish it by Christmas time this year.

Goals have a purpose but you can't let them dictate your happiness.

But, I won't give up until Christmas.

You never know!

Stitching by The Fire!

I'm stitching a pretty pink Baby Sacque.

It is part of Baby's Layette for my class with Farmhouse Fabrics in March.

I love my  Ruler Box , it really is handy to have by my chair.

It keeps me from losing my floss and needles.

And Levi the cat is enjoying the fire with me!

(you can be sure my Brown Dog is here too!)

Cute Dish Cloth

I pulled this old Dish Cloth out of a drawer and have been enjoying it.

(not for drying dishes though!)

I like to put it on my Tea Tray when I have Tea by the Fire!

It makes me happy.

Winter Morning.

Winter mornings  are different somehow.

The morning light is more intense I think.

It comes through my window and finds my old chandelier.

Making beautiful rainbows on my wall.

The sun makes shadows  as it reaches my ivy.

But so quickly lights up the room.

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.

Stitching By The Fire

I'm not fond of cold weather!
But I love to stitch by the fire.  It's a favorite activity.

I am stitching my blue 9 patch quilt.
All by hand and I am almost ready to stitch the borders!

Did you notice my Wool Wrist Pincushion?
The arm of the chair is a perfect fit!!

What I am reading by the fire.

Tea and Sewing - Sew Sew's

Diane was making beautiful Garters.
My Sew Sew's group came to my house.

She hand stitches each Bridal Garter she makes.

Everyone brought stitching projects.

The two Garters you see in these pictures were spoken for.
Diane makes these Garters with love for special people in her life.

Isn't that what all our stitching is really about?

Stitching love into material for someone special?

Then it was Tea Time!

Today was Blue and White Spode Day!

A friend and I made tea for the ladies.

We all had a real good time!

Loving hearts
nest easily…together!
