Still Stitching By The Fire!

I have moved on to finishing up my Sons Quilt.

Lest you think I am an over producer in the sewing department…..I will say that I have been working on this quilt for quite a long time and finally it's almost done.

I am hand stitching the binding in place.

I made the binding to be 1" finished instead of the usual narrow binding.

In this picture you can see that it has been artfully machine quilted by Charlene.

I love the old Shoo Fly design.
My favorites seem to be quilts that I make up using an old design.

I might be finally getting over this rotten cold which will mean getting back into my sewing room for work/fun that I need to do.

Sitting by the fire with a needle in my hand has been the best medicine for me!!

ps.  can you find my Brown Dog in this picture?

What a lovely quilt. I keep looking for ways to completely sew the binding by machine, but they never seem to work out. Hand finishing always seems to be the best way. I do make all my quilt bindings on the bias so they don't wear out so soon. I hope you feel better soon! I'm sure you are drinking lots of tea by the fire!
Our new house will only have gas fireplaces, but it's better than nothing.
