Next Trip - Farmhouse Fabrics

This is a gorgeous Summer Dress

We will be making this in the class I am teaching for Farmhouse Fabric.

It has a ton of techniques to learn.

Including a lined skirt and lined bodice.  Plus how to attach entredeux to the skirt with a nice machine roll and whip.  And the really cool way you can stitch the beading to the yoke to hide all the seam allowances while making a pretty statement.   Fun…...

Folded over tucks and how to make them straight and even.

Embroidered Featherstitch and Bullion Rosebuds.  

I even have a tip for lovely Daisy leaves!

Teaching at Peanut Butter and Jelly Kids

We had alot of fun in class at Peanut Butter and Jelly Kids!!

The first two days of class we were making Toddler Summer Dress - The fancy tucked version.

The ladies were a focused and hard working group.

Eager to sew and learn techniques.

One student was a very busy girl and FINISHED  her dress!

She brought it in to show us on Sunday.

 Isn't it beautiful??

Everyone did a wonderful job on their dresses.

It makes me a happy teacher!

Still Magnolias - I Love a Retreat!!

I love a happy student!!

I recently taught for the Still Magnolia Saga Group in North Louisiana.

It was a lot of fun.

My Dress as  appeared in Sew Beautiful Magazine.

We were spending the weekend making Toddler Summer Dress.

The Still Magnolias know how to have fun!!  They go away for the weekend to a Retreat Center and Sew, sew, sew.  All weekend!

The room at this Retreat Center is nice and large.

We were at the Camp Harris Baptist Retreat Center in Mindon, Louisiana.

Everyone careful traced the tucks in the hem.

Here we are attaching Entredeux to fabric and rolling the fabric edge.

We spent some time figuring out the best foot to use on each machine for the Roll and Whip.

It can make all the difference.

Then, at meal time, we just moseyed over to the cafeteria and ate a meal that was waiting and ready for us.  We all loved this part.  Ready and Waiting.  No cooking, no deciding, no cleaning up.

Then it was back to sewing and attaching the lace to entredeux.

By the end of our weekend, most ladies had their dresses very near complete!

It's Sew Heavenly - Come to Class this Fall

Brenda and Lacie are the heart of "It's Sew Heavenly".

They are the ones who choose the best and prettiest fabrics  and laces to offer.

They have created an atmosphere where you are inspired to sew and they are happy to help you find the right materials for your project.

They keep the classroom small so the students can get more out of the class.

Smaller classes mean more personal instruction.

I'm very excited to be going back to teach for It's Sew Heavenly this fall.

They treat every one of us like we are "Queen for the Day"

It's Fun!

I'm in the throw's of makeing the beautiful Dress for the Class Project.

I am using Toddlers Summer Dresses Pattern.

But the lovely dress we are making has been created just for this class.

Our Dress will be….Linen, Lace and Beautiful Embroidey!  

Add a touch of Hemstitching and Construction Techniques and this class is the perfect combination.

Join us as we make a lovely Summer Dress.

This is not the dress but it will be similar. 

 The yoke is embellished with lace that is attached with just a wee bit of hemstitching.

 Both bodice and skirt are lined for a nice finish and you can choose to make Size 1,2 or 3.  

The Techniques included in class are - Lace that is attached to fabric with the Hand Hemstitch (Just a little bit of Hemstitching can add quite a splash to your garment!), Machine Stitched Tucks, Lace to Fabric, Lining the dress and construction of a sleeveless Yoke dress.  Some special Embroidery Stitches are included along with old favorites. You will love the hem I have designed for you.

The Old Fashioned Double Featherstitching (or I could call it the French Acadian Antique Featherstitching since I learned it in South Louisiana).  This Featherstitching is unique in that there are no written instructions for it, except for Jeannie B's Embroidery Book and I am very keen in bringing back this beautiful stitch.

 Irish Bullion Rose

Another Stitch I have garnered through examining antique Baby Clothing is the bullion Irish Rose.  The center of this flower is an Eyelet with Bullions stitched in such a way that I think it resembles the Irish Rose.  I will show another way for when you just aren't in the mode for stitching eyelets!

We will also make a pretty Heirloom Pillowcase to practise our new skills on.

And come away with two lovely projects.

There will be three wonderful days of fun and informative stitching by hand and machine.

Sew Beautiful and My New Pattern!!

I have received much interest in this dress  featured in the brand new Sew Beautiful Magazine.

It is called Toddler Summer Dresses.

It is one of the patterns that will be available soon but is not ready now!

I am working hard!

This is an elegant but simple little sleeveless Tucked Dress.

I have this Swiss Edging for sale too, but just haven't put it on my web site yet.

There are tucks at the hem to match the ones on the yoke.  

And floss threaded through the Swiss Edging.

If you like this pretty embroidery design...

you will find it on Page 37 of my Jeannie B. Embroidery Book.

Not shown in the magazine is the other Dress view in the pattern.

It does not have tucks but has a sweet Shadow Embroidery Design (included) on the Yoke.

And no tucks on the hem either, just a Swiss Edging.

I used a fine Pima Pique for this dress.
