I Say "Strive For Perfection"!

My Granddaughter - pretty darn near perfection!

In our Character, we should always Strive For Perfection and accept nothing less.  This means we are always striving, although in this life we will never attain perfection.
Emma's Smocked Baby Dresses (unsmocked in this photo).

"In our Sewing we should always Strive For Perfection but accept the Illusion of Perfection!" quote from  Jeannie B.   Those of you who have had my classes have heard this!

Otherwise you would NEVER  complete anything!!  You must live with the "Good Enough" rule of life and sewing.  Now this is not an excuse for being sloppy in your work. And we all improve with practice and if we are striving for perfection -  we will never be sloppy.  But the "Good Enough" rule keeps you perfectionists from never moving forward or being happy with what you create.  Do your best and it is Good Enough!

God's perfect Creation.

"This one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forth to those things which are before me, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 3:13-14

Have I told you how much I love your blog? I love that, as perfectly as you sew, you don't claim perfection! I love learning the heirloom techniques that I am learning from you. I have recently made several garments completely by hand, inspired by you. Thanks.

Oh such very wise words - especially for those of us perfectionists who need to keep striving in check to the Lord's grace.

Good word Jeannie. I often struggle with the whole perfectionism thing. And so does my Ahnalin. As I am helping her to accept "good enough" I have to accept it myself. I like perfect! But only God is perfect, so I need to just relax and enjoy my craft more.

I have taken your classes and heard you speak those words, but they are words that I need to hear time and time again.
Happy Sunday to you!
