Fun With Friends- Afton Villa Gardens!

Everytime I visit, I am always moved by this little statue in the family cemetery.
Grief was a constant companion of those living  in the 1800's.

This is the entrance to Afton Villa Gardens. My favorite place in Louisiana!
 In another week or so, the Azalea's will be in full bloom along either side of the road.

See  more about the Afton Villa Gardens.

For those who know me.  You will be surprised to learn that the Rose is not my favorite flower (but I do love Roses).

 It is the Daffodil!!

My shirt is really Navy Blue but it turned into LSU purple in this picture - so funny!
Picture Title:  Friends among the Daffodils. (Beth, Marsha, me)

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed...and gazed...but little thought
what wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
and dances with the daffodils.

It good to see the signs of spring, new life. My husband told me this morning that our daffodils, in southern MI, are starting to poke their green shoots out.

I love daffodils too. Those and forsythia are the first things that bloom here in the spring. I think that's why i love them so much, that and the beautiful, sunny yellow!

I love the angel in the first picture... God knows even our feelings!

I adore daffodils, because they are usually the first things to pop through the cold ground and remind us that Spring always comes. I am surprised to hear it is your favorite flower, but so glad you love roses, too!

Oh how pretty!! I love daffodils too, but my favorites are tulips! I love all flowers that come from bulbs. I love how they stubbornly survive the winter to remind us that spring is on it's way.

I planted about 200 daffodils in my back yard when I lived in MS. I miss them every spring.
