Needle Tatting!

Needle Tatting!  Isn't it amazing?

Bev, who helps me with orders and kits and everything else, made these.
I am impressed!

She brought me the books and told me how easy it is.  She will show me one day.  And I want to learn how to make them...one day when I have more time.

I thought they would be cute as Flowers.
Belinda decorated these little bags, using the tatted motifs as the flowers and chain stitched the stems.

And we filled them with dried Rose Petals from my garden.
And gave them away as gifts.

Oh, how sweet is the smell of a Rose!

Just beautiful! Tatting is such a lost art but so exquisite to incorporate into other projects!

I have the book for needletatting, but I don't when I'll get time for that either. I do sometimes crochet edgings, but I would love to be able to put some tatted edgings on my smocked stuff. Yep, one of these years.

I always wanted to learn to tat but no one here knew how. I came across needle tatting from Mary Janes Farm magazine and spent a long time trying to find a needle ( none available in Canada). I finally got one and love working with it. I like to make edging for smocked dresses. Wish I knew how when my girls were small.

i have been needle tatting for about 5 years now. it is so easy anyone can do it. i had tried and tried to learn shuttle tatting, but could never get the hang of it. i was on a tatting blog one day and someone had written the hostess about this "fake" tatting going on and how she thought it was disgraceful. well the hostess wrote back in her blog that maybe some people had felt the same way when sewing machines came out on the market, and aren't we glad we have sewing machines now. needle tatting is still done by hand and it's been in use since the 1920's. it's not new fangled, it's just another way to get to the same result.
