Baby's First Daygowns - View 2
This Daygown is a Class Sample. I have taught this Daygown in classes for Saga guilds and for Shops. The fabric used here is my Daygown Lawn.
The lovely lace is Lilly of the Valley.
Instead of using Lace Insertion to frame the yoke, I used Lace Edging.
Dressy with-out being too girly.
There are some good teaching techniques here.
Mitering the Lace Edging at the corner of the yoke lace. And look closely at the sleeve in the left bottom corner. I attached entredeux to the sleeve and then added the lace edging to it. I also threaded floss through the holes of the entredeux for a bit of color.
Blue and White is one of my favorite color combos, especially in Dishes (think Spode)!!
In class we learned the regular Featherstithing and the Antique Double Featherstitching along with Bullion Rosebuds. The pinstitching here is by machine. I can't remember if I taught hand Pinstitching in class or not.
I eliminated the lace at the hem for a simpler version.
This is really the same picture as above but I can show you my Peggy Martin Roses!
This picture was taken last spring. Ahhh!
Very pretty and easy Daygown for your special baby!!
Have more fun sewing in 2014!!

That sleeve treatment is lovely. And what did you do with those buttons?
I embroidered a bullion rosebud in the button.
Just beautiful! I love bullions in buttons. A perfect touch.
