New York City Silver Thimble

This is my NYC Silver Thimble.

I look for Thimbles everywhere I go.  Thimbles that fit my finger well.

Each drawer has a different silver pattern in it

Do I look happy?  Yes!

This is a picture taken the first day of our New York City 21 Birthday trip.
We walked by a tiny old Silver Shop which was packed full of old silver.

Cambridge is my pattern.

My Granddaughter is great.
She went in with me with a smile on her face and was totally patient waiting for me as I looked at everything!  It made the trip  extra fun for me.

And I found this Sterling Silver Thimble.  And it fits me. And it's pretty too.

I was in silver heaven.

NYC Birthday Trip Day 2

We were so concerned we would have trouble on the Subway that we got there almost 2 hours early!
But it was fun to walk around.
Day 2 Celebrating Ambers 21st Birthday in NYC!

She wanted to go on a Food Tour!

It was great.  The tour guide takes a group walking around a small area of New York and talks about interesting history and cultural events.  We went on the Village tour.

I want to live in the Village.
Love it!!

On this walking tour, we stop (often) to sample foods that are well know in The Village.

Here we are at Joe's Pizza where we sample the delicious pizza and hear all about Joe, his business and pizza in general.

I had the best Meat Ball in my life here!

Wonderful Day!

NYC Day 1

If you have been following my posts you will know that I am with my Granddaughter in NYC.
It is a special trip to celebrate her 21st Birthday.

After our breakfast at Juniors we walked along Fifth Ave (where we drank the yummy hot chocolate) and the rest of the day was literally a Walk In The Park!

Central Park

Our destination was the Central Park Zoo where we saw amazing things….like Sea Lions throwing a Frisbee for his lunch.  And penguins being hand fed fish.

And the Childrens Petting Zoo where the Goats fell in love with me!!
I think the food I gave them had something to do with it.

The evening was a trip to the theatre to see Matilda.

It was very entertaining and well done.
A perfect Day.

NYC Fabrics

I went to Mood Designer Fabrics for the first time.

Mood Fabric is  chock full of great fabric.
The layout is  more like a warehouse  than a fancy shop because they have so much.

It was not so easy for me to find.  I didn't see it by just wandering around the Garment District.
In fact I needed my google map with the blinking dot to find it.

And even then, I passed it twice and went back to where the dot stopped but didn't see Mood.   I must look like a Sewing Lady, because someone took pity on my and asked if I was looking for Mood Fabrics! They told me where it was.

If I had been across the street from Mood I would have seen the signs by looking up.

But when walking on the same side of the street, this is the entrance you see.  Doesn't mention Mood Fabric anywhere.  You go inside.   Then you take an elevator up to Mood.  The elevator  was cool because it was old and had an elevator operator.

I like elevator operators.

This was the aisle I was looking for and the pink fabric you see un-rolled was one of the fabrics I was after.  It is a fine linen.  Really nice.

Another shop I really like is Pacific trimming.  They are a no nonsense trim company.

Aisles full of ribbons and other trims.

Alot of very useful items that you don't see everywhere.
I found a metal  curve rule to replace my plastic rule.

Unlike every other city in America - there is no shortage of fabric shops and notions!

(but not Heirloom shops)

Ahh, another day in NYC
