The two Roses on my Sewing Room desk are old porcelain roses.

Pretty and practical and vintage!

Love the combination.

They were a  gift from a student in my class at Beth's Heirloom Sewing Shop.

They once belonged to her Mother so they are special.

Roses in my kitchen too.  

This time from my garden. They are David Austin's Graham Thomas.

View From My Workroom Window

This is the view from my workroom window.

There is a table under the window where I sit and work.

The air coming in the window is Rosy perfume.

Heavenly!

In early spring the roses are a deep pink.

And I can see the Louisiana irises blooming too.

This is outside looking up at my window.

Lace Yoked - Baby's First Daygown

finished!

This is the Daygown I stitched for my class with The Memphis Area Smocking Guild.

It is an adaptation of View 2.  I used a flat Lace Edging instead of Insertion and gathered Lace Edging.

Made with my white Daygown Lawn.

The Daygown Lawn irons up so nice and fresh.

Isn't it pretty in my roses?

I made this Daygown in size Infant (the Newborn is included in the pattern). 

The Daygown looks great in my amazing Roses.

And I used the 3/4 length sleeve, which I really like!

By the time you get to this photograph, you realize that these pictures are no longer about my Daygown.  I am just taking pictures of my Roses and sticking the Daygown in my pictures!

So.... here's to my pretty Roses!

The Peggy Martin Rose (or Katrina Rose).

Looks like 7 Sisters, but it's not.  And no thorns either.

Thirty Minutes.

This is the dress we were making at It's Sew Heavenly. 

This one is mine but it's not finished.

 I had a white dress in class but I was making one in pale green (like my students) so I could show the steps as I taught the class.

I want to finish it...but I have so many other things that need done that I can't make it a priority.

So.....

Thirty minutes.

Just thirty minutes a day. (I have 10 minutes and 59 seconds left in this picture)

 I set my timer for 30 minutes and I work until the timer goes off.  Sometimes I do sneak in a little extra.  Is that cheating?

And so it will get finished.  By stitching on it for only 30 minutes a day!

I stitched the entredeux to the neck yesterday.  I finished stitching it all down, which took more than the allotted 30 minutes.

 But I finished stitching it down (by hand) while watching the 1968 movie  "Romeo and Juliette" at night, so that doesn't count. 

  I saw that same movie when I was 16 years old.  

Quite shocking to me then.  But so romantic!  And I think I liked it more this time.  I love the music, which I didn't notice when I was 16.  I love the costumes too.  And Romeo and Juliette were just as I remembered them.  So young and attractive!  I could identify with them because, like them, I was young too.

And I never did identify with that saying when I was 16.  

But that Shakespeare...he must have been a gardener!

Summer Roses.

My Roses are lovely!  These are Elsie May Roses.

Katy Road Pink- given me by a Friend.

And growing happily in my Garden.

My Brown Dog on the wrong side of the back door.

Whichever side of the door that I am on is the right side of the door.

He's such a sweet Dog.

His  eyes are the color of Burnt Sugar.  I like that.

Cute Button Pillow

A friend made me this cute Button Embellished Pillow.

I might have shown it to you before but I have been admiring it lately!

The stem to the flowers is the Chain Stitch.

I think it is very cleaver!!

Now, I must go prepare for a Tea Party.  My Sew Sew friends are coming today.  

I plan for us to sit in my garden with my Roses.  So I am calling it a Rose Tea Party.

Stitching In My Garden

I love stitching in my Garden!

This morning I had the best peach, my favorite muffin (wholewheat, bran, banana, blueberries and nuts) and Mocha coffee which was really half milk.

I read about Lydia from the Bible.  Acts 16:11

Did you know that Lydia was a seller of fine fabric?

My Graham Thomas rose was looking mighty fine this morning.

I am stitching a little white Daygown and trying out a new sleeve.

Using a beautiful cup!

I finished attaching the entredeux to the neck of the Daygown.

Using the old fashioned method that I love.

And peeked at the latest Sew Beautiful magazine.  

I have an article featuring three different designs using the same pattern - my Best Embroidered Baby Clothes One!

Before the Snow (in Baton Rouge?)

I cut my Roses to enjoy them.

Snow is predicted in Baton Rouge!  I thought I should bring some flowers inside, just in case.

My night time photo skill is lacking.  The white blurbs are snow!

Snow in Baton Rouge!  For you northerners this is nothing but in Baton Rouge, we get pretty excited!
