This is the little room in the attic where I live!
Well, it's really the big room over the garage where I Design, Write and Sew.
And I spend alot of my time there.
Happily!
You can see fabric leaning against the back of my desk.
Fabric has a tendency of making it's way into every inch of your life!
My "Office" is really a little area at the end of my Sewing Room.
It's just perfect for me. And cosy, too.
My walls are a rich cream. Or maybe unsalted butter??
Very pale and light and pleasant.
My computer, printer and scanner take up much of my surface area on the white desk.
I have drawers on the left side that are shallow but wide and deep. I planned it that way. Good for keeping designs and drawings in. Wish I had a dozen more!
The drawer handles are a pale green glass. Not antique but reproductions. No one sees them but me. But I love them.
You can just see the bookcases in the left corner above.
Sorry, I didn't clean up the Bookshelves.
I am a book collector. I love books. I need books.
I want more books!
These are my Sewing Books, both old and new. I use the old books the most.
You need them too!
Have you noticed that no book tells you everything you want to know.
I have all the Red Books (as I fondly call them) from Creative Needle.
Each book has all the issues of Creative Needle for that year. Mine start with year 1992 which was when I had my first column article published in the magazine. I wrote my column for almost 10 years. It was my Old Fashioned Baby column....named for my business.
The date on the last year is ...sadly...2007.
The space is really bigger than it looks. Notice the storage overhead.
My old oak desk is 62" wide by 32" deep. And the white desk/shelf together measures 98" wide. I had it built specially and intended to use it for sewing. So there is lots of light here. The natural light from the window, the hanging light you can see in this picture and a florescent light in the ceiling.
But I love where my sewing is and this is a perfect office for me.
My sister made me the pretty quilted wall hanging on the right. You can't really see it. Another post perhaps.
I love the window. My body seems to crave natural light.
Having the desks at this angle is wonderful. Very functional!
This crystal light is special to me. It was given to my Father In Law by his mother, Grandma Baumeister. I am so glad I took it from the house before the
Tornado destroyed his house.
