London - V&A Baby Bearing Cloth

This fascinated me!
I had never seen anything like it.

"Baby's Bearing Cloth
1650 - 1700
Babies from wealthy families were wrapped in rich bearing cloths for their christening and other special occasions.  The cloths were then often handed down through generations.
Velvet with gold and silver bobbin lace.
Velvet from Italy, Lace made in England"

It looks like a fancy swaddling cloth.

I would like to know where their information came from and where I could find out more about it.

I'm always interested in the day to day history of times gone by.
I found this information:

I had the same thought about it. It would be nice if the descriptions told a little about the provenance.
