How to Adapt the Hem for Christmas Daygown

I used my pattern Smocked Baby Clothes, View 1 and the Lacy Hem from View 2.

I added extra Lace Insertion to the hem to complement the longer hem.  To do this:  First remove the 3" allowed for the turned up hem in View 1.  Then…Measure up 1 1/4" above the raw hem edge and mark for the lowest Lace Placement Line.
1.  Place Lace Insertion on top of this line, lining up the lower edge of the lace on the line.  Stitch in place as directed in my pattern.
2.  Measure 1" above the first Lace Insertion (that is already stitched on the fabric) and mark for the second Lace Placement Line.  Place Lace Insertion on top of this line and stitch as before.
3.  Measure 1" above the second Lace Insertion and mark for the third Lace Placement Line.  Place the third Insertion on top of this line as before.

Attach ungathered Lace Edging to hem with a machine Roll and Whip.
Hint:  I will gather the Lace Edging and then release the gathers to prevent the lace from cupping up as it tends to do on a curved hem.

This is the View 2 Daydress.  As you can see, the Merry Christmas  Daygown is longer, with an extra row of lace and has long comfy warm smocked sleeves.

For the Smocked Sleeve, you will pleat the sleeves as directed.  Leave pleating threads long and add the Entredeux and Lace Edging before pulling the threads up to Smock.
I use a 7 Crewel Needle when smocking.

Beautiful Dress for your sweet Christmas baby!

Of Special Note: There is a slip of paper in the Smocked Baby Clothes Pattern to correct an error. This is the correction in case your pattern doesn't have it.
I  mistakenly wrote "Place on Fold" on the Yoke.  This is wrong.  You do not place it on the fold. You cut  2 ( Cut 2  is on the pattern piece) but not on the fold.  The instructions and Layout are correct.
