Girls Road Trip - Goodbye Missouri Star

One last lunch at Mama Hawk's Kitchen.

Our three days of shopping done.

It was time to leave Missouri Star and Hamilton, Mo.

Pack up our car.
(Figure out where to put our luggage!!)

And head home…but with some fun stops on the way.

Girls Road Trip - Destination Fabric/5

Maybe my favorite of the shops in Hamilton, MO.

I love the floral fabric!

These fabric were just a few I found that would look very cute made into children's clothes.

I was looking for fabrics I needed for a quilt I am planning to make with a friend.

I was having such a great time.

Even the bathroom had interesting things to take pictures of.

Isn't this a cute arrangement for a wall?

Can you tell that the 'frames' are really old metal embroidery hoops?

Inspiration from  The Missouri Quilt Co.

Girls Road Trip - Destination Fabric/4

I loved the Reproduction Fabric Shop.
(that's no surprise!)

I thought this fabric would look really cute for  a Toddler dress.

I bought this from the  Reproduction Shop.
Very Baby.

This is the stairway to….MORE fabric!!

Click for a better view of the cute things written on the steps.
"She who dies with the most fabric is not sewing fast enough".  This was the saying Lea chose.  She wants more time to sew!

We stopped at a really cute place at lunch time to rest.
It was right in the thick of things.
No driving required.

Good food too.

More shopping.  We stayed until they closed the shops and went home.

And had Show and Share in our hotel!!

A Girls Road Trip - Destination Fabric / 2

It's time to Sew!!
(This clock was on the wall of Village Quilting)

Our next Fabric stop was Village Quilting.

Lots of fabric, including cute prints for children's clothing.

It's fun to see projects that other people bring into a shop.

This is a vintage quilt a lady brought in to have quilted. I love the old fashioned design.  If you look closely at it, you can see that all the red squares go in one direction.

The other prints in the other direction.
I like to think about the fun and inspiration that belonged to the woman who made this quilt  so many years ago.

Before the day was over, we arrived at our final destination.

A Girls Road Trip - Destination Fabric

Three friends who love Fabric….ready to go.

One stop to go hiking in beautiful weather.

I am in the red shirt and this was actually a very large surface.
Hawksbill Crag in Arkansas.

Our First Fabric Shop!!
Yeah!!!

The owner was very nice and let us in to her store even though she was actually closed.

1910 Hwy 16
Elkins, Arkansas

This was a large and well stocked shop.  Plenty of cute prints for smocking.
I bought some cute fabric here.

On to our next adventure...

Mary's Antiques and Collectibles

There is an antique shop in Ponchatoula, Louisiana that has a section full of all things sewing related.  And alot of quilts.  Old.  Old but newly quilted.  And new quilts custom made by Mary.

It is a very interesting place for any person who loves to sew.

She sells embroidered linens

She had quilts and pillowcases (embroidered of course!) and some old fabrics.

I am very interested in Redwork and she has several old examples.

I went there looking for a small sample to show in my Redwork classes.

And found my sample.  And more!

…tune in next post to see….more..

It's Sew Heavenly Class - Featherstitching and Irish Rose

In Class at It's Sew Heavenly we Featherstitched our little hearts out!!

We also ate delicious lunches that Brenda made us.

 Yum!

And we learned how to make the "Irish Rose".
A pretty Bullion Flower with an eyelet in the center.

Everyone was very focused on their stitching.

(Except when they were very focused on their shopping!)

And the results were lovely.

This is my finished dress.

It's Sew Heavenly is a fun place to teach.

Sister Trip - Fabric Shop

We went to an upscale Fabric Shop in Cleveland.

Loved this cute dress made from linen with a Japanese lawn trim.
It was cut on the bias which gave it some swing.

The few fabrics they had were wonderful Japanese lawns and Liberty lawns.

With very cute trims.

It was the kind of shop that inspired you to go home and start sewing!!

That's the best kind of Sewing Shop I think.
