Day 12 -Isolation = Retreat

This is a close up of the neck edge of the Vintage Baby Dress that I used as inspiration for the Dress Lilly was wearing in yesterdays post.  The design is really more re-creation than inspiration.

I used my own pattern, but tried to get the look of the Vintage Dress.
Thats what I love to do.  Re - create lovely baby clothes from the past. But sometimes it's only part of the design I like so I reallly do more that is inspiration.

This is the  new one I made. I call it Carole's Vintage Baby Dress.

I love everything about this Baby Dress though.
And my friend Carole wore the original.

In this photo, Lilly is 3 months younger that the post yesterday.
Lilly is wearing my Dress.
(I miss that dumpling!)

OK
The Retreat part of Isolation.
(thanks again to Alicia for calling it her Retreat)
It does have an attraction that "Isolation" just lacks.

So my house is full of boxes I need to unpack because I just moved -  so it isn't exactly Spa City here. I have decided to set aside some "Retreat Fun Time" each day that will be the  Retreat part.  I had planned to plant my flowers because I love doing that.

But I took an afternoon nap instead!!!
That was the best Retreat ever :)

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him."
Psalm 28:7

So wonderful to see you blogging again! I thought of you often, since our heartfelt conversation at SAGA in Dallas. Happy you have a sweet new home, flowers to plant and bike trails to explore. Hope those things help these difficult days pass more quickly. We begin our county's mandatory "retreat" tonight. May we all come out on the other side healthy and with completed needlework projects!

I had the pleasure of enjoying a class with you at the Smock Shoppe in Dothan, Alabama. Welcome back and would love the pleasure of another class sometime in the future if that would be possible. Love your work!!!

I down-sized last year so I understand what you are going through. I still have lots of boxes marked “sewing stuff” that I have not gone through. The good news is that with this retreat, nobody is going to drop in on you, so a messy house is no problem πŸ™‚

I am in awe of your designs and beautiful baby dresses! It has always been my love to dress babies to look like babies . I am going to follow your blog. I have just completed three smocked baby dresses made during THE retreat. I am a doll artist and made all the clothes for my dolls so they will be one of a kind. Looking forward to learning from you!
