Early Christmas Teacup - Pot!

A gift from my son, who won't be here for Christmas.

Does he know his Mama or what?

And it all fits together into this wonderful little Teapot/Cup combination!

 cute

The design on the China is very pretty and cheerful.

And you know I love the Roses!

I came right home and had a cup of tea!

If you are cold, tea will warm you;
if you are too heated, it will cool you;
if you are depressed, it will cheer you;
if you are exhausted, it will calm you.

Pretty White Napkins!

I was given a very nice gift recently.
You can tell that the person who selected this gift knew me well!

Several Vintage Napkins and an assortment of Tea.

The Napkins are made from fine Linen.

They were hand embroidered and edged with Lace Trim.  I think the Lace is handmade.

Close up of the Lace and the Cutwork embroidery.

Can you tell that the embroidery is a pale blue?  My favorite combination - Blue and White!
Here you see more of the Cutwork embroidery and Satin Stitch.

Four different interesting Teas.

Some old friends dropped in....so, we had tea with our lunch.

The first choice to try was the Raspberry Earl (I knew I would love anything with "Earl" in it!).
And I did.  It was very good.

With flowers from my garden.
These Fairy Roses are loving this cooler weather.

...and this is my White Wednesday for this week.  Come with me to Faded Charm for more.

The Sew Sews Do Tea!

Yes, we're going to Tea.  But first I need to finish show and tell from my Sew Sews!
Another cute blanket.

I especially love this blanket.  I love the pink bunny.  And the pink ribbon that is threaded through the white crochet.  I always love just a hint of color on a white background.

ok, we're on our way....

We get to drive by amazing iron work from the old buildings in New Orleans.

And we have arrived.  The room where we had tea was beautiful!

There is also a lovely courtyard.
But I have promised you Tea and here it is!
First , we were served these wonderful and tasty treats.

This was my plate and I ate every bite!

Next, came the Tea Cakes and Scones and other goodies.

They were so beautiful!!

I was happy just to look at them.

And more!  Each was a work of art.

The tea was flowing.
My favorite Teas were the Parisian Tea and the Green Peppermint.

Here is our happy group.
(notice I am wearing my Shawl - front on the left)

You could not see Lorraine in the picture above - but she is absolutely charming in this fru fru little hat.  Feathers and all!  Can you  believe she made it?

You can tell I don't get out much when I am taking pictures in the bathroom!

I loved the little rolled up cloth towels for drying my hands.
Very nice.

Wasn't this a true treat?
We Sew Sew's really know how to have a good time!

"Somehow, taking tea together encourages an atmosphere of intimacy when you slip off the timepiece in your mind and cast your fate to a delight of tasty tea, tiny foods, and thoughtful conversation."

My Tea Table

This is my Antique Tea Table.

Isn't it pretty?

The "tray" lifts off.

Side view.  Beautiful legs!!

I love my Tea Table!!

My Brown Dog is sooo nosy.

What I am reading: Isaiah 55:8,9
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the Lord,
"As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Amen!

A Fun Saturday Morning In My Sewing Room

My Friend came over this morning.
She helped me put together kits!  She is stitching a Ready To Smock Bonnet.

This Paperwhite plant was a birthday gift from her.
Look! It is almost ready to bloom!

Today we had a Hodge Podge Tea!  Nothing matched.
You can see that there is a flurry of activity in my Sewing Room by the messy table.

This is the Blue & White Teapot I bought and hand carried home from New York City.  A girl can't have too many Teapots!

These are my Buttermilk Muffins. They are super good for you!  They include Oats, Wholewheat flour and Flax.  And they are sooo good.  Especially when sitting on a Spode blue and white plate!!

This is a glimpse of one of the things I am doing. The little knot marks the center of the pleats.
I should be embarrassed to tell you this but I think you would want to know.   I counted those pleats 8 or a zillion times before I found the center of the pleated fabric.  They kept moving on me.  I swear!

Next post will be from my Vintage Priscilla Smocking Book on The Art of Smocking.

See you then,
jeannie

A Nice Morning Stitching

Steaming Lady Gray Tea in my Grandmothers fancy Teacup!
I had such a nice morning.  I spent most of it sitting by the warm fire, sipping tea and stitching.  I did a little reading too.  And I didn't get out of my Flannel Nightgown until noon!

Tomorrow I will give you a little lesson about gathering lace evenly and stitching it.
